Juo tiriami ketvirtos ir a\u0161tuntos klas\u0117s mokini\u0173 matematikos ir gamtos moksl\u0173 mokymosi pasiekimai, j\u0173 kaita ir pasiekimus lemiantys socialiniai, ekonominiai ir kult\u016briniai veiksniai, taip pat surenkama daug aktualios kontekstin\u0117s informacijos. Tyrimas padeda \u0161alims dalyv\u0117ms steb\u0117ti nacionalinio \u0161vietimo b\u016bkl\u0119, j\u0105 lyginti su kit\u0173 pasaulio \u0161ali\u0173 \u0161vietimu ir remiantis patikima, kiekviename cikle atnaujinama informacija, tobulinti \u0161vietimo politik\u0105 ir praktik\u0105.<\/p>\n<p>Lietuva IEA TIMSS tyrime dalyvauja nuo 1995 m. Pirmuose dviejuose tyrimo cikluose (1995 m. ir 1999 m.) buvo tiriami tik a\u0161tuntos klas\u0117s mokini\u0173 pasiekimai, o nuo 2003 m. tiriami ir Lietuvos ketvirtos klas\u0117s mokini\u0173 pasiekimai. Iki \u0161iol buvo \u012fgyvendinti septyni tyrimo ciklai (1995 m., 1999 m., 2003 m., 2007 m., 2011 m., 2015 m., 2019 m.).<\/p>\n<p>Tarptautiniame IEA TIMSS tyrime mokini\u0173 matematikos ir gamtos moksl\u0173 geb\u0117jimai tikrinami testu.
